As temperatures rise and flowers blossom, we bid winter adieu and welcome spring with open arms. During this time of transition, your home could use a boost of freshness, and there’s no better place to start than your bedroom! We spend over a third of our lives in bed, so it’s important to ensure it’s a clean and safe place to relax at the end of a long day.

Here are some tips to freshen up your bed this season:

Spot Cleaning Your Mattress

While our mattresses do come with a removable cover, they’re not waterproof. We encourage you to prevent accidents by using a waterproof mattress protector. However, if you need to spot-clean your mattress, start by blotting the affected area with a clean white cloth and then adding a small quantity of Oxi Magic™ or OxiClean™ solution. Once the spot is removed, blot the area again with a damp cloth and let it dry. You may place a fan on the mattress to speed up the drying process.

Cleaning Your Flat Foundation or Power Base

While it’s important to keep your mattress fresh and clean, our Flat Foundations and Power Bases can always use a little love, too! To clean your foundation or base, wipe the area with a lightly damp sponge or vacuum with a soft brush attachment to remove any particles. Then, wipe the area with a clean, damp cloth. To remove ingrained soil and excess dirt, use a soft bristle brush to brush the base gently. Finish by wiping the area with a warm, damp cloth to remove residue after brushing. Let your foundation or base dry away from direct heat.

Freshen Up Your Bedding

According to the Sleep Foundation, we should be washing our sheets and pillowcases once a week. We recommend machine washing in cold water with a mild or natural detergent. The washing and drying process can take some time; therefore, it’s convenient to have an extra clean set to use in the meantime. Our comforters require special instruction. Our Primaloft Comforter can only be dry-cleaned; however, our Down Comforter can be washed in warm water on a delicate cycle. We suggest rinsing it twice to disperse all the detergent. Finally, hang dry or use low heat if placed in a dryer.

Caring for Pillows and Toppers

To keep your pillows and toppers fresh, occasionally remove the pillowcase, sheets, and covers to allow the material to breathe and absorb the fresh air. You may gently spot-clean your pillows and toppers as you would your mattress; however, all covers are machine washable. We recommend washing them in cold water with a mild detergent and hung to dry. We always suggest adding a pillow protector to resist stains and protect against spills.
